Kansas City Irish Fest News

Here is the lowdown of all the programs on the Children's Stage for the weekend.

 

Friday, August 31

Children's Stage
5:15 pm

StoneLion Puppet Theatre

"A Bit of Luck" - Greed does not pay in this traditional Irish folktale of magical Leprechauns and rainbows. Hear the story of Patrick Shaunasey and his wife Mary, who are a hard working couple of potato farmers just looking for a bit of luck in their old age. Their eccentric neighbor, Daniel O'Leary spends his time lazing about and tricking leprechauns out of their gold. Whose dreams will come true in this charming rod puppet show?

O'Riada-McCarty-Manning Academy of Irish Dance

Ever since Riverdance captured the hearts of so many, Irish dancing has made its presence known at every opportunity, join us as the nimble feet of our wonderful local Irish Dance Academy educate us about Irish Dance.

Children's Costume Contest

We have two categories for our contest this year. The first is the Best Potato and the second is the Best Irish Birthday Costume.

The High Kings of Ireland presented by Trilogy Cultural Arts

Prince Flynn is becoming more of a man, but he needs a little push…a little extra something to push him in the right direction of becoming a King. And, what better to help the Prince find his way than the most noble of all quests. The quest he embarks on is to find and earn a beautiful bride. For what could be more important than finding love and proving to the Princess that you deserve her.

Barry FitzGerald, star of the Sci-fi Channel's show Ghost Hunter International and veteran ghosthunter of 20 years will entertain you with ghost stories from his native Ireland and from his travels around the world.

The High Kings of Ireland presented by Trilogy Cultural Arts

Prince Flynn is becoming more of a man, but he needs a little push…a little extra something to push him in the right direction of becoming a King. And, what better to help the Prince find his way than the most noble of all quests. The quest he embarks on is to find and earn a beautiful bride. For what could be more important than finding love and proving to the Princess that you deserve her.

Sharon Kennedy - Seanachie

Sharon Kennedy performs stories from around the world, but is best known for those drawn from the Irish oral tradition: tales of the "little people" and the fairy world, of shapeshifting seals known as "selchies" who can assume human form, of giants and wizards, and of magical encounters between ordinary people and extraordinary worlds.

Driscoll School of Irish Dance

The Driscoll School of Irish Dance offers classes for children and adults interested in competitive or recreational Irish dance. We believe in building a dancers ability and self-esteem through encouragement and positive reinforcement.

O'Riada-McCarty-Manning Academy of Irish Dance

The O'Riada-McCarty-Manning Academy offers fun-filled classes for dancers ages 3 to adult at their four locations in Kansas City, Lee's Summit, Lawrence and Leavenworth. They are proud to present their unique production of The Wizard of OMM. They combine Irish Dance with a touch of theater to give you this one of kind dance drama! From the dancing tornado and the munchkins in Oz, to the flying monkeys and soldiers, you are sure to be amazed by this wonderful show!
