The critically acclaimed and popular Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison was born on August 31, 1945. Known for his prickly and idiosyncratic personality, as well as his transcendental live performances, Van Morrison made the studio albums Astral Weeks and Moondance, which are often regarded as among the greatest ever recorded.
